The US military is an abstract collective. Abstract collectives do not act historically because they have no personality.

Their actions reflect the actions of a portion of individuals who enjoy prominence within the collective (not all of them), and this can be changed and change all the time.

To say that the US military is guilty of all this is as useless as saying that every American is a couch potato or that every German is a Nazi.
