Nor, unlike Australia, does Canada even have Army units that are preferentially tasked to conduct amphibious operations. Indeed, despite the fact that it has one of the world's most powerful navies, Canada has no amphibious capabilities whatsoever, not even the sort of modest maritime special operations capability such as maintained by a country such as Israel. The Canadian Army did participate in a number of amphibious operations in World War II, but since then the Canadian Forces have managed to get along without any discernable naval infantry capability. For a brief period in the 2005-2007 timeframe, the Canadian government flirted with establishing a Standing Contingency Task Force (SCTF) which would have implied the creation of a Naval Infantry, if not a Marine Corps. But as with so many other Canadian ambitions, nothing came of this brief excursion. Either way OP's "I served my country for 5. 10 year police officer , former marine." does not equate to serving Canada in the Marines. Serving the crown maybe, but not Canada. It shouldn't even merit a page view, much less a reply, but I'm already here, sad to say. You were a RMCP officer. You capitalized officer, though, so whatever a RMCP officer is, it must be something very important. You can't spell clueless, and that says a lot. You served your country. Yawn. Don't we all? You volunteered, you were paid for your efforts, and your heroic service may have involved peeling potatoes at Fort Igloo. Being a veteran doesn't automatically make my worship anyone. It's unfortunate that we assign automatic prestige bennies to all veterans as if they'd all laid down their lives for their country. Now, if you were a janitor at Tim Hogan's, I might be overflowing with "online respect" for you. -2.5 stars. |
