Tossed mine in 2008 but the internet is getting just as bad between bias and adverts.
OP- you should make a poll thread instead of a response one.

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
We ditched ours a year ago and saved $96/mo for the basic TV cable package. Our bill was cut in half.

Instead of paying for any 'service' to be able to watch something on 'TV', we have been using this site [link to watchnewslive.tv] which has proven 98% stable.

Though the name implies only news - there are dozens of channels that were part of our basic package so now we are not losing anything except funding CNN/Disney/ESPN/MSNBC.

Perk is saving $96/mo.

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
I haven't had one since January 2002. I raised my kids without tv. They learned how to work hard on the farm and play harder and never once complained about the lack of vegging out to crappy programming.

Now that I'm by myself and spend much of my time at home, I can say that I miss it occasionally. There's no real internet here and the data is limited so I can't stream anything but would enjoy being able to do so from time to time.

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
i've been tv-free for more than a decade, and i love it!
when i used to have one, it was almost an automatic response to come home and plant myself in front of it, even though there was mostly just bullshit showing.

ok, i have a computer (obviously) and can watch things on my laptop, if i want to. but, i don't have any network television access, and i really like it this way.

it has allowed me a lot more time for things like reading or doing things that seem a lot more beneficial for me than zoning out in front of a propaganda box...

it also seems that not having a tv has allowed me to see through a lot more of the bullshit and "programming".

i would assume, since this is glp, that i'm not alone. how many of you threw away your tv? and, if so, what are the positives you've encountered? negatives?

if you still have a tv (or many), i don't hold it against you.
you're free to chime in to.

cheers

yes, i am sure knowing who has a tv is a very important data mining point here on glp.

so, explain to me how i would be able to capitalize on this information. and, how is this something that most cable companies (and telecommunication companies) wouldn't already know this?

whatever

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
i own a tv in case i have guests. i do not have cable. i would have to turn on netflix or something.

the smart tvs should remain with power completely disconnected due to them having surveillance gear in them.

i believe there is no justifiable reason for tvs to have surveillance equipment in them.

I have a TV in every room. I also have Amazon Fire and the Amazoning things I can do with it. Other things on it I have Pluto TV (free cable and makes me remember why I cut cable). Beavis and Butthead rules though.

I also have a really good friend my laptop. Which I spend most of my time on. Cortana is my side girl. She has attitude and personality.

that certainly is not my case. sitting around watching tv is a total waste of time. if i am going to waste time, i would rather game. at least i am using my brain and hand eye coordination while i waste time.

I have a TV, but cut the cord about 10 years ago.

I only miss it once a year for one big sporting event. There are other ways to watch it though - just not the network coverage. Even that sucks now as they are more interested in what Hollyweird stars are attending and what they're wearing. Who fucking cares??!!!!

I have a Roku to watch a few live streams on YouTube though. I really don't want to have to go somewhere else to watch some of these explosive congressional hearings.

It's much better to get news on the internet and a tremendous relief to not have to cringe and suffer through all the sickening commercials. Why people are paying $100+ every month for cable to pump that shit into their living rooms I can't figure out.

Hell, I won't even listen to radio anymore because of the commercials.

I gave up TV over 11 years ago. When I go to my parent's house I can't believe how stupid it's gotten. It was really bad back then. I can't find anything worth watching from the Redbox anymore and I'm currently watching Cheers (Again) on Netflix.

We stopped having T.V. programming around the time they went from analog to digital and 'the box' became necessary. We have a T.V. for watching movies, but nothing else. We've never looked back!

I fired my TV carrier a decade ago. It's unimaginable watching fucking commercials again. How did I ever stand it before? Literally 5 full minutes of ads...in your face. We really were brainwashed zombies.

I accidentally clicked on a CNN video with Don Lemon calling Tucker Carlson a racist. I could not stand watching it for ten seconds...never mind an entire show. I only clicked on it because I thought it was Tucker Carlson telling off that Omar Rep...but it was CNN lies instead.

All Smart TV's have dual use microphones and cameras built in.

Years ago they called it a conspiracy about a Smart TV listening and watching you.

There were many threads here on it.

Now LG, Sony, ect. all have the information about it in there fine print disclosures in the instruction packet

For your convenience...of course

Same as On Star...
