Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
i've been tv-free for more than a decade, and i love it!
when i used to have one, it was almost an automatic response to come home and plant myself in front of it, even though there was mostly just bullshit showing.

ok, i have a computer (obviously) and can watch things on my laptop, if i want to. but, i don't have any network television access, and i really like it this way.

it has allowed me a lot more time for things like reading or doing things that seem a lot more beneficial for me than zoning out in front of a propaganda box...

it also seems that not having a tv has allowed me to see through a lot more of the bullshit and "programming".

i would assume, since this is glp, that i'm not alone. how many of you threw away your tv? and, if so, what are the positives you've encountered? negatives?

if you still have a tv (or many), i don't hold it against you.
you're free to chime in to.

cheers

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
My last cable-viewing or cable bill was in 1992 or 1993.

Never owned a satellite dish system.

I only view televised content at friends' houses or when bored in a motel room.

I don't need all the TV-propaganda.

I quit watching TV almost twenty years ago but, unfortunately, cable television is included in my monthly HOA payment. I swallow hard and pay it as a majority of my neighbors are addicted.

I gave up cable 15 years ago, when Hulu and fancast came Around.
And occasionally I'll just watch Pluto for old times sake.

I got rid of it when I had children, because it's too hard to control what comes into your house through a television.

I raised two readers. Both are doctors.

I haven't had cable TV for ten years. It's like pouring poison into your home. We do get over the air TV, but we never watch it, it's such a wasteland.

I don’t have cable.

I still have my TVs, but they are only there for Netflix or streaming an occasional sports event.

Exactly. The Rural Purge was when the leftists removed the
good, wholesome TV programs (anything with a tree) and
began their "TV Programming".

Pretty much anyone using this forum is using some kind of LCD screen.

As for cable service, I haven't paid for that since 2003.

We have several in our home, but they are only for streaming documentaries and movies from the internet. Kids do maybe 2 or 3 hours of gaming per week, but we do not consume broadcast, cable or network television programming and don't even have basic cable, just the fastest internet connection we could get, which does come in via cable to our router.

It makes you wonder who gave the order to eliminate traditional US television shows, and to mostly just push leftist control-propaganda on the airwaves.

Who controls television programming?

Re: who here doesn't have a TV?
Let's see ...

I have 2 at the office (conference room & my personal office)

I have 3 at home (living room, my home office desk, rec room), one with a ROKU box attached

I have 1 for the boat (has built in DVD player for movies)

I have 1 "pocket size" one for when I travel

I have 1 TV module that plugs into my Android tablet also for when I travel (works great! - though the pocket one is easier to use and receives signals from a further distance)

WOW ... 8 TV's!!

While I don't watch TV much, when I want it ... well I WANT IT!! News and Weather junkie here ... virtually never watch anything else.
