Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez broke down in tears Wednesday as an asylum seeker mother gave a harrowing account of her one-year-old daughter's death after being detained in US custody.

Guatemalan Yazmin Juárez told a House panel that she came to the United States seeking safety, but instead watched her infant daughter die slowly and painfully after the baby received shoddy medical care while they were in immigration custody.

As the emotional mother spoke Democrat Ocasio-Cortez wiped away tears and an image of her brown-eyed baby girl, Mariee, was put up on television screens in the hearing room.

The baby had fallen ill with a high fever, vomiting and diarrhea when mother and daughter were detained in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dilley, Texas, last year.

'It's like they tore out a piece of my heart,' Juárez said.

'I wanted to have a better life for her and a better future so that she could keep growing, but now we won't be able to do that and she is gone.'

they were picked up March 1, March 11 she developed a cough, saw dr's and PA's a number of times, released from custody March 25...March 26 saw a dr in NJ was sent home, later in day went to er where they admitted Mairee….May 10 Mairee died, she experienced catastrophic hemorrhage and irreversible brain and organ damage...hmmm

Let me get this straight:
1. Mother leaves her country with an infant in tow and does not follow immigration procedures;
2. She is wanting free shit: food, water, housing and medical care;
3. She has no resources or any other plan;
4. Baby dies from stress of trip;
5. Mother gets on TV and complains about how evil Americans are.

This is irresponsible and very low IQ on her part.

This article is written with the assumption that kid got sick while in immigration custody and the quality of healthcare she received was substandard, which led to her death. It doesn't ask any very relevant questions:

1. When did the child become sick, and when was she exposed to the illness that killed her?
2. What did she have?
3. Did her thousand-mile trip through sweltering heat, which she suffered because of her illegal alien mother, contribute to her condition?
4. What, exactly, was substandard about the medical care the child received that, allegedly, led to her death?

It's real easy to scream, "Those gringo doctors killed my baby!" and the media will lap it up to stick a finger in Trump's eye. It's a lot harder to accept your own responsibility for her death and realize maybe trekking through the desert with a baby under the supervision of criminal human traffickers wasn't such a great idea.
