OP, you didn't have the level of debt in the 1970s that we have now. You didn't have the derivative products in the 70s that we have now. Trump is a real estate guy. They want to keep rates low to keep loan repayments on track. Pretty simple to see that raising rates will kill both residential and commercial real estate and the rest would crumble from there. Rates will go lower and likely go negative.
