Remember the days of landline phones?
Waiting for an important call? Better sit next to the phone at home/in the office without bathroom breaks.

Emergency? Try to find a payphone or run to store to make a call?

The good side was that unlike now, nobody expected you to be on call 24/7.

Re: Remember the days of landline phones?
I remember taking a ride to the park when I was in high school a few miles away from my house growing up. Played some basketball and was the last one to leave before realizing I locked keys in car. I couldn’t flag anyone down so I went to the gas station and asked for a dime to use for the pay phone outside. The guy rolled his eyes, opened the register and gave me one. I called my dad to come bring the spare key. He was annoyed as fuck. I went and shot more hoops while I waited for him to arrive about an hr later.

The best part was when you're in a heated argument on the phone and you get sooooo pissed off, you take that receiver and SLAM IT THE FUCK DOWN on that phone so hard, you can hear the bell inside the phone rattle.

SOOOoooo satisfying when hanging up on people.

Now? It's just *press!* and "boop!"

Remember when your phone didn't give your brain cancer, vestibular schwannomas, acoustic neuromas?

Remember when your phone didn't kill your sperm?

Remember when your phone didn't give you colon cancer because you carry it your back pocket?

Remember when your phone wasn't a propaganda tool used by the Beast System?

Remember when your phone wasn't running Google Android and financially supporting pedophilia?

Yea, that's why I have a land-line.

Have one on my kitchen counter. Just made a call. It never needs recharging. When the power goes out, I just call the power company.

Re: Remember the days of landline phones?
Ground lines were great.

I knew ex was a little bit psychic with be because of the number of times I picked up the ground line to call him and he was already on the line. He’d been listening to the phone ring then listening to me dial him. It always made him mad. It made me laugh. This is why he is the ex.

Or two people on the same house could answer st the same time and think the other was calling from elsewhere, becoming confused with the caller listening in also confused.

Or sisters could spy on one another.

The store clerk rolled his eyes because you were allowed to make "collect-calls" back then where the receiver of the call would be charged.

In those days the pay phones where all over the place. And people would stop to help you out and you could always go to a nearby home and have them make the call or they would trust you to come in and call. But nowadays you cant even pull over to help someone without risking being attacked. Times were much better back then, and we all got along just fine without cell phones.
