It is not the individual who is being persecuted , it is Christ.
All who have not been regenerated " made spiritually alive" this is all they will ever know. This is their only existence. Deep down they no they are condemn and their sins will dictate their lives.
Mankind serves either Christ, or Satan...
There is no in between.
