It cost as much as a car payment or more to have auto insurance these days!!! Its a complete ripoff! Teen drivers have it the worse! That works out to an average car insurance rate of about $135 per month for 40-year-old drivers with good credit and no at-fault accidents on their records before any discounts are applied. This cost includes liability, comprehensive, collision and any additional state-mandated coverage types. I know and have three cars. We have full on only one but you've got to have something. If you have no ins and hit a car full of kids and a pregnant woman you'll be fucked for a long time to come. At 59 and no tickets or accidents for 30 yrs and I'm payin out 180 bucks a month with Farmers. It sucks but the possible alternative would have me payin my retirement money to someone else should I plow into them.
