Remember

The Egyptians say that the divine right of kings was taught how to restore order and balance and avert chaos. And by uniting upper and lower Egypt and restoring Ma'at, threat of crisis averted. It was tied by lotus plants on the windpipe.

Are we talking eagle, duck or hummingbird sized feathers here?

What OP us really asking is, "Which would rather get hit by as fired out of a cannon or dropped from 10 stories".

You people are knuckleheads....

The pound is reference to a monetary unit.

How many feathers does one get for a pound, and likewise for the lead.

Then you can calculate the answer. Easy!

cheers

No, they are not... it's just common sense to me...

Mass and weight are often used interchangeably but they are NOT interchangeable. where F is the force required to accelerate a Mass M at a rate a. Weight is a positive quantity which varies with gravity.

Re: What weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?
A pound is a unit of weight. If one item is denser than another, it will weigh more but take up less space. So the pound of lead will be a relatively small amount you could stick in a pocket. A pound of feathers would be the filling for a good-sized pillow.

Re: What weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?
A pound of lead might hit the ground faster than a pound of feather depending on fall distance and bag type or netting, as the feathers might begin to loft and do what feathers are designed for plus even on scales, would it still be the same or not an accurate reading if gusts of wind are blowing at the bags in netting and starting to loft even a single outer feather?

Lead has a half life which is one of the highest in nature.
So in theory it should retain its weight better than the organic (mostly carbon) pound of feathers.

So in time, a pound of lead will beat a pound of feathers.
Which, extracted to a millionth of a nanosecond on the scale will make a pound of feathers decay faster than a pound of lead, making the most accurate weighing in perfect vacuum circumstances determine that the initial ping of lead is heavier than the initial pound of feathers.

This is totally dependent on whether or not it gets emersed in a liquid, from a purely observational standpoint, the scale the liquid was placed on will still read a pound was added, whether or not it sinks or floats.
