It was actually ‘illegal’ then would you believe lol, weird to think that but some ‘other’ Europeans were highlighting his sexuality to the authorities so they investigated. He agreed to chemical castration for a lesser sentence. He found it too difficult living in society after his sexuality came to light & he was persecuted so he killed himself. Tragic story.
