I imagine they would have used the foil and cardboard to enclose the top of the moon buggy and fly that back to earth using fire extinguishers for lift off assist and directional maneuvering. The problem though would be they couldn't get enough thrust from the fire extinguishers alone so they would probably need to construct a giant ramp at the bottom of a hill and drive the buggy down the hill and launch it off the ramp towards earth while firing the extinguishers. Well puzzling that when Neil tested a lander of sorts on earth ,Neil bailed out just before the infamous lander crashed. To be fair no gold foil (Mylar) was attached to the legs which may have effected stability , also atmosphere verses space etc.. |
