RUBIK'S CUBE SOLVED IN 'FRACTION OF A SECOND' BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHM
[link to www.newsweek.com (secure)]

Researchers have developed an AI algorithm which can solve a Rubik's cube in a fraction of a second, according to a study published in the journal Nature Machine Intelligence.

The system, known as DeepCubeA, uses a form of machine learning which teaches itself how to play in order to crack the puzzle without being specifically coached by humans.

There is no sense of time for a machine as there is for a human hence they can solve problems like this using brute force using plausible variations and just can pose them in microseconds so really it's not impressive.

Only an idiot will allow AI to make actual decisions like military ones as what the computer thinks is successful or correct could be devasting in terms of actual cost in the destruction of human lives or the environment.

This is such bullshit. Rubik's cube is MATH, ALWAYS MATH, no matter the possible combination it is ALWAYS MATH...

Good grief, I am starting to completely doubt AI altogether as everything I have seen is this kind of bullshit.

MY CALCULATOR IS BETTER AT MATH THAN ME!!!!!

This is NOT impressive. There is no/zero/zilch, does not exist, such thing as AI. There are only living conscious souls that in this realm inhabit bodies, or there are toasters. Ie no consciousness whatsoever!

Ai is just a computer program, whether it is fully functioning from day 1, or a kind of spore game that evolves over time, its just a computer program.

Computers can solve rubik's cube in no time, fraction of a section.

Computers in learning mode, also will reach that level.

THEY ARE ALL TOASTERS.

It is not supposed to be impressive. You are right about AI but if it is merged with black magic of gene manipulation could become real nightmare.

Uh I think the article is saying it taught itself the purpose of the rubix cube what the end goal of the game is. It’s movement parameters and solved it in under a second. Very different than telling a computer all of these things and having them solve for it. It understood what it was on it’s own.

Talk about old news, you dont even need "AI" to solve a rubix cube. People have been making rubix cube solving "robots" for a decade. The most time consuming part of the process is photographing each side of the cube then manipulating it to solve it. The math work to solve it gets done in a fraction of a second from the last photo being taken till the mechanism starts manipulating the cube

No one is saying AI is needed to solve a rubix cube or that it is faster than just writing a program that knows exactly how to do it. The article stating though that AI programmers used the challenge of the rubix cube to see if the AI could figure out what the goal of the rubix cube was on its own and solve it and how long it would take it to do so. What part of this aren’t you guys getting it isn’t that difficult

AI has forced me to look at decision making from a new perspective. My conclusion is that we need to make a distinction between a calculation and decision making.

Decision making involves many competing interests, values, and perspectives. Additionally, with decisions there is an element of unpredictability, misinformation and chaos.

AI superiority in calculating and following algorithms can enhance our decision making, it can not replace our decision making. It has no skin in the game, does not feel pain, love, trauma, nor love. It is just a soulless machine.

Re: RUBIK'S CUBE SOLVED IN 'FRACTION OF A SECOND' BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE MACHINE LEARNING ALGORITHM
now let's see it solve 33x cube. or let's go a little more esoteric and see how long it takes to solve an 8d cube, that is a cube in the 8th-dimensional with 8 sides per dimension. Yes, it would have to exist in digital space but we could provide mechanical parameters to help simulate resistance and slowing down the AI. and then we could see if we could then apply to E8 theory.
