President Trump on Thursday disavowed the “send her back” chant that occurred during his raucous rally the night before, saying he was “not happy with it.”

After Trump mentioned Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar – who came to the United States as a child and became an American citizen at age 12 — the crowd at the North Carolina rally chanted “SEND HER BACK! SEND HER BACK!”

“I was not happy with it. I disagree with it,” Trump told to reporters at the White House on Thursday.

Asked why he did not stop chant: “I think I did — I started speaking very quickly.”
