We have a shortage in canned vegetables - Alabama here.

Does anyone know the reasons? I've heard the excess rains in the midwest - but I thought they grew more corn, soy beans and wheat. It seems canned goods are only affected, not frozen. Any good theories why that is?
A shortage on shelf stable/canned goods really gets my tin foil hat going...
