One of my favorite YT'ers is Steve Ronin, who travels worldwide exploring and documenting abandoned places.

He just uploaded this as one of several places he's hitting in Japan but this video of some billionaire just walkin' away from this blew me away.

34 min. video but is really worth the popcorn, cold beer and much needed Doom break.

Really liked Ronin's comments regarding leaving it all behind, nice wisdom.

if you do not find within yourself
that which you seek, neither
will you find it outside.
In you is hidden the treasure of treasures.
Know thyself and you will know
the Universe and the Gods.

Right at the 17:17 mark he just cracks me up while admiring a huge 6 ft handblown glass something-or-another...
"Well, this looks like a bong."

Thx, will check that out later. Love the innerwebs for taking us all places we can't see in person.

What kills me about this abandoned mansion is how the dude just walked away from it all. Sad story.

And Mother Nature takes it over in due time.

Perhaps it's not a sad story, perhaps it's a wonderful story of leaving all the decadence and things that makes us elevate ourselves in our minds by what we own, and at the end of the day, are completely unnecessary.

So very true, in that respect! I think Ronin mentioned a few times the dude couldn't handle love lost.

If his woman was the pinnacle of life, then w/ her being gone then nothing else mattered.

In California we have something similar where a rich woman owns multiple mansions but doesn't even use them, they stay abandoned. Except for one recently where a guy was arrested for having a ton of illegal weapons stored in the house.

I've caught a couple of things by RNK, I think. Just incredible what is abandoned out there. Down east in NC it's common to see old antebellum places being reclaimed by kudzu and vines.
