Blaspheming the Holy Spirit
I experienced the worst satanic attack. I began to believe (in error) that I had committed the unforgivable sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit probably (I assumed) at one point in my life and I believed that I must be forever doomed. I was carrying this burden for a few weeks—I was sick and beside myself with the lowest grief, I have ever experienced—personal separation from the Lord. I tried to read books about the Holy Spirit to console myself—but I never felt completely assured.

I went as a chaperone with my son, who was part of a ministry team and the group was going to a festival at Olivette University in Illinois. During a Saturday morning chapel service, about 300 people who were there for this festival had gathered to hear the minister who gave a very Spirit-filled message. In the middle of this service, the man stopped cold and looked out in the audience and said that he had a message for someone here who believes they committed the unforgivable sin. He proceeded to say that if that had happened that you would not be at this festival. Then he proceeded again with his message as if nothing had happened.

I was dumbfounded—and I wondered it that message was for me—but I claimed it as my own and found the relief that I so desired when I could not find it any other way. The reason blaspheming the HOLY SPIRIT is unforgivable is because it is the HOLY SPIRIT WHO draws people to the Salvation of JESUS CHRIST--and if people continue to dangerously reject the drawings of the HOLY SPIRIT they risk REJECTING THAT DRAWING ONE TOO MANY TIMES--and without the salvation of JESUS CHRIST--YOUR SIN IS UNFORGIVABLE: I cannot stress enough the importance of seeking GOD in this life while you still can and not putting CHRIST on the back burner of your life.

If you are distraught that you committed that sin, then you didn't. If you still are worried over it, get pastoral counseling.

Hey OP,

Nobody can understand the level of dread and fear and emptiness that comes with the kind of attack which you speak and I went through the same ordeal and it was truly, hellish.

I'd love to exchange with you on this thread if you like. Much to discuss.

From Christian Orthodoxy perspective:

So then, why was one sin declared unforgivable? And what is this sin? The context of Christ’s declaration reveals it: the sin against the Holy Spirit is the sin of rejecting Christ as a blaspheming deceiver. The Pharisees saw Christ’s miracles and His spectacular exorcisms. They could not deny the reality of the exorcisms; they just said that He could only do such things because He was in league with Satan. “It is only by Beel-zebul, the prince of demons, that this man casts out demons” (Matthew 12:24). (Note in passing their malevolence and hatred of Jesus: they cannot even bring themselves to say His Name. He is “this man”.) This is not just slander against Jesus, but against the Spirit of God Himself, for it declares the Holy Spirit through which Jesus cast out demons (Matthew 12:28) was an unclean spirit. Our Lord’s foes were in fact setting themselves against all that God was doing, rejecting His coming Kingdom as a deception and a fraud. That Kingdom was the only place where grace and forgiveness flowed into the world, so that by continuing to reject the Kingdom, they rejected with it the only source of forgiveness. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit was not unforgiveable in the sense that God refused to forgive those who repented of it, but because in persisting in this sin they cut themselves off from the possibility of forgiveness. Jesus was not simply another Jewish teacher. He was the everlasting Son of the Father, so that to see Him was to see the Father (John 14:9), and to reject Him was to reject the Father. That what why rejecting Jesus as demonic cut one off from forgiveness, for it involved rejecting God Himself.
Jesus is also the Father God

Satan tried to convince me that too but I forget how long that lasted. He tried to convince me I am the antiChrist and many other lies. True growing believers and followers will experience it all.

Jesus blesses you!

Btw true blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is believing him to be evil and declaring it. The Pharisees too their attack from the outward man of Jesus to his inward Spirit and that's when they crossed the line. Calling him evil after having known his goodness, is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is God. Read the Holy Bible, keep his commandments, obey all of his commands, save your soul.

Re: Blaspheming the Holy Spirit
Do you understand the reality of the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit was the active manifestation of the Spirit of YHWH in the Temple within the Holy of Holies. And when Jesus is crucified, the veil was torn and the Holy Spirit depart to NEVER AGAIN return to the Temple.

That is theology in Hebrews as Jesus now by his death and ressurection gave grace so no temple sacrifices were necessary.
[link to www.gotquestions.org (secure)]
Please read that short explanation.

So then Jesus told the disciple he would ascend and the Comforter would artive and live in each of us as the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

To blaspheme against YHWH was the highest sin to an devout J_w but Jesus says you can even blaspheme again himself, but never the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the creative force of the Spirit of YHWH and is our connection to the TRINITY. It's a daily miracle that is supposed to be inside each Christian. It would be kin to denying the power of the TRINITY when it's inside you.

Part of the controversy by the Full Gospel folks is the claim that to deny the active manifestation of the Giftsbof the Holy Spirit is itself a blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

A Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is to deny that it is evident as a miraclulous almost self-evident fact of the power of the TRINITY. That is why Jesus is incredulous as his power by the annointing of the Spirt of YHWH is obviously on him by so many miracles like casting out demons, healing, walking on the waterl calming the storm, feeding thousands, etc.

The scribes and Pharisee understood nothing yet claimed to understand so much that they put their interpretation before the Torah and the Prophets! They had put their interpretation above YHWH's word and the Living WORD...Jesus the ha-Mashiach was standing right in front of them.

The OP is right about one thing. You cannot be forgiven if you blaspheme against the Holy Spirit so you are cursed to Gehenna as the worst of the reprobates.

I seriously doubt the OP is under that curse but they didn't clearly explain why they presumed they had broken such a taboo.

I have come to the same understanding to you. It is when you continually trangress over and over and ignore the ministry and counseling of the spirit to come home to God.

Also, it says does not God chasten those that he loves. This had also helped me.

Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16

On Yom Kippur, one rabbi was allowed to enter that Holy of Holies and they tied a rope around him as if he was unworthy, he would be struck dead.

They were scared to do this. Nobody but very pure people would risk it.

Well due to Jesus, we can cross that threshold. Jesus is that veil and the Holy Spirit lives inside us now.

I hope that is more clear. The devout rabbis were terrified of that Spirit of GOD so it's amazing that it's inside us. We could never be worthy except through Jesus' perfect sacrifce once and for all time.

This statement about drawing is from John 6:44
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The OP is making the theological case that the Holy Spirit is who draws them.

I would add that the reason some are not drawn theolgially seems to be in John 3.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

See? The ones that does evil hate the light for to come to the light, their evil deeds are exposed. This interferes with the drawing.

Jesus says no one is good, thus no one should fear this save the unrepentant.

The repentant has no fear of being exposed as they are sincere and want forgiveness.

Paraphrasing...

The force (Holy Spirit) is what give a Jedi (True Christian) his power. It surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxies together.

Now think about this 'force' within the confines of quantum physics and you will find why it is not a good idea to cast dispersions.
