This is not crazy at all, dear AC. This is a good example of how to change through increased awareness, and your experience is proof that it can be done!!!
Another method would be to do five-minute writing sessions at the beginning and the end of each day. If, for example, I feel insecure, I would write I AM SECURE ten times. And each time after writing this, I would write down immediately what comes into my mind. For example:
I AM SECURE - well, I am not feeling like it just now
I AM SECURE - the first time I drove by myself I had a great feeling
I AM SECURE - when my boss was angry at me yesterday at 14.oo, I felt really knocked down
etc. etc. The more precise the information (e.g. at 14.00), the more you will focus on when you feel secure and when you are not. If you continue to do these sessions for a couple of weeks, and then read it all through, some sort of pattern will start to emerge which will help you understand yourself better, and how to combat the problem better.

I think that forums like GLP and also stuff such as the headlines in the MSM can have a negative effect on us. If we constantly read negative things we also can become negative ourselves. To counteract this I have an upturned box at the side of my computer. On the face of it I've written -
I am happy.
I am joyful.
I am secure.
I am good fun.
I am not anxious.
And I read it all the time. This may sound crazy but it has actually helped improve my mood no end. Try it and you too may be surprised :)
