Baltimore: RATS! Infestation forces Ashburton students out of cafeteria

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - An infestation of rats has forced students out of the lunchroom at a Baltimore City elementary school. Those students hope to return soon to the cafeteria to eat.

Staff members say they’ve been dealing with the rat problem for about a week.

It’s happening at Ashburton Elementary Middle School on Hilton Road, where the students are now forced to eat in the gym.

Gail Bradford’s nephew, Lakai, is a student at Ashburton. He brought home a letter Monday from the principal who said the matter is being addressed.

“Rats! They carry all types of diseases and you got all these children in here. Who knows what they can come home with or get sick from?" said Bradford.
