15 sounds like a lot to us older folk, but these days that's not very much money at all, actually.

A burger flipper is ALWAYS going to earn way less than a skilled worker.

If you raise the unskilled to $15 then the skilled will make $30. If you raise unskilled to $100 then skilled will make $200.

Prices will adjust accordingly.

The buying power of a burger flipper is ALWAYS going to remain the buying power of a burger flipper.

The reason why they want to adjust these numbers, which happens in canada all the time actually, is to adjust for inflation.. The buying power of a dollar gets lower and lower, so they have to pay more to make up for it.

So, the prices are already adjusted by natural inflation, it's the pay that's lagging behind

Based on that website, the min wage is totally different all over Canada based on the local economy.. Seems much better ;)

You raise the wage. The businesses raise prices to pay for the wage. So you raise the wage. Businesses raise prices to pay for the wage. Rinse and repeat.

The minimum wage earner has the same buying power. Their situation does not improve at all.

The only people who benefit are the politicians because people vote for this mirage every single time.
