Unrelenting police state...military surveillance balloons.
[link to www.theguardian.com (secure)]

The US military is conducting wide-area surveillance tests across six midwest states using experimental high-altitude balloons, documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) reveal.
Up to 25 unmanned solar-powered balloons are being launched from rural South Dakota and drifting 250 miles through an area spanning portions of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri, before concluding in central Illinois.
Travelling in the stratosphere at altitudes of up to 65,000ft, the balloons are intended to “provide a persistent surveillance system to locate and deter narcotic trafficking and homeland security threats”, according to a filing made on behalf of the Sierra Nevada Corporation, an aerospace and defense company.

It never recedes. Only marches forward.

All tech that was once used on the field of battle ends up being used on so-called free citizens in our own land.

We may have won the battle of WW2, but we are losing the war. Now that ww2 vets are dying off it's full steam ahead. I feel sorry for my kids, they were born into a digital prison. Every move will be known, every phone call and text recorded, facial recognition cameras pinging them when they step out the front door, all purchases logged. What kind of life is this? I feel like we are in the twilight zone. Freedom is nothing more than an illusion.

They call the mission GORGON STARE ... nice cuddly name.

The Gorgons were monstrous females with huge teeth like those of swine, brazen claws, and serpents on their heads instead of hair. There were three Gorgons, none of these beings make much figure in mythology except Medusa, the chief of the three, and the only one that was mortal. Medu'sa was so hideous that whoever set eyes on her face was instantly turned into stone.

Bro...
I read about this a few years ago. This started out by mounting very high resolution cameras (4 or 5 per) on UAVs that could stay airborne for a few days. It would record 50 or so miles in diameter and stitch the videos together. The end result was actual video of the 48 to 72 hours of the area they were watching. They could literally rewind to any specific time and zoom in so close they could read the license plates of the cars. If a robbery or murder occurred they could go back to that exact time and then rewind the video tracing the suspect all the way from his point of origin! That was a couple of years ago. I remember the only problem was they were limited by the amount of time they could stay airborne. The article mentioned a possibility if testing the same technology using ballons. Until now i had totally forgot about that.

It's crazy, all the old school dictators would be creaming their pants. Mao, Lenin, Hitler, Mussolini, only wish they could have had this type of surveillance. Of course now we know that a lot of their scientist types simply carried on over here. The deeper this hole becomes the more troubling it is.
