If this escalates I bet Russia ends up owning the Bosporus and Dardanelles.

This will include Constantinople in the end, which will be renamed to Constantinople. And that big church will once again be the head of the Orthodox religion.

Why? Turkey plans to attack the area controlled by US. Why would Russia intervene?

Dunno but Russia gave Turkey one day to get completely out of Syria, and that was yesterday.

They were talking about a different area of Syria. Erdogan plans to invade the area east of Euphrates, that's controlled by US and the Kurds/PKK.
