Detailed palaeomagnetic data have revealed how the Earth's magnetic field changes in a polarity shift. In relative terms (time scale inaccurately known) there is a slow decrease to <10% of the normal field intensity. After an uncertain interval the field intensity picks up to some 20 or 30% of the normal field intensity during a relatively brief spike. Then another low field intensity interval, and finally it picks up to full field intensity - of either normal or reversed polarity.

This has never happened in real-time during the scientific era, so the effects are necessarily speculative. Amongst the expected effects would be:

Vulnerability of satellites, power lines and communications to the effects of solar storms.

Increased UV, and hence increased incidence of skin cancer.

All sorts of changing physico-chemical processes in the upper atmosphere, of which the weakening ozone layer would be the most alarming.

On average these magnetic flips occur about every 11,000 to 12,000 years - although there is a great deal of variation. On this basis the next one is about due.

It won't be lethal. Neanderthals, Denisovans and Hom.sap's prehistoric forebears survived the last magnetic flip, but it will be inconvenient, and probably not without a serious health impact."

Yes, the one thing we should all be watching carefully is the topic that is rarely discussed at all. And for good reason. This is a lot worse than "man made climate change".

I offered a statement from a geologist and a mention of a New York Times Science article from the 90's that strangely can no longer be found. I've got dozens more where those came from.

It's our magnetic field weakening, not the sun increasing its output. And the year 2046 is just to keep us from worrying about it now. It's happening now though, and faster each year.

I think scientists are working on ways to make a man-made field/shield for our planet. That's probably what experiments like Haarp are really about. When the magnetic field goes down, we want our own backup system in place so we all don't get nuked by the sun. Makes sense.

Have you read the work of Thomas Vogt? He provides ample evidence to contradict your claim. Explain technites found throughout the solar system?

Yes, I have his book and I disagree. What would appear like an increase in solar output 12,000 years ago could also have been caused by a very weak magnetic field that let more solar radiation in. The effects would look the same. I've found far more scientific evidence of that than a "micro nova" and the planet stopping its spin. That science doesn't even make sense.

what the hell do you think CERN and all the other 100 of thousands of particle colliders around the world are intended for? They will band together to create an artificial magnetic field when ours goes down.

Possible. I know they are trying to create antimatter as an energy source there. If a giant asteroid was heading towards Earth, a rocket loaded with antimatter would be quite useful.... That's definitely another subject though but you're correct. Cern could be part of the man-made magnetic field idea I proposed. It's the biggest machine on the planet.

This is my own personal theory. Why would world governments pay trillions of dollars to CERN for particle research? to create weapons? to create free energy? NOPE. That's why its funded globally.

I've found numerous mentions from scientific sources that state there is a known 25,000 year magnetic cycle with a pole reversal every 12,500 years. The last one being the Gothenberg Magnetic Flip 12,400 years ago. But yet it is not mentioned anymore except for places like this.

I find it more interesting to study what dare not be mentioned instead of what is plastered all over the television. Those are the distractions. That's what they want you talking about.

I think some of the evidence of micronova are found on the surface of other planets and the moon. Definitely mars and Earths moon so far.

It is only on Earth that they can determine how 'long' the remnants of said nova have been there

I disagree with his 2046 solar micro nova belief. I kept sending him my research on this 12,000 year cycle since 2012 and he would never respond. Now he talks about it all the time. We just disagree on a some points.

One easy way to disprove a solar micro nova as the cause of this. The magnetic poles have already been shifting for decades and the sun hasn't changed that much at all. Certainly no micro nova. The magnetic field strength has been weakening at an alarming rate too. We're already well into this event so the sun can't be the catalyst.

The sun will be the problem though when our magnetic field strength is less than 10%. They don't make sunscreen for that. Bye bye ice caps.

Ever wonder how world floods happen? A lot of ice melting at once. When our magnetic field goes down, it's like leaving the freezer door open for a while. The ice caps have already started to break apart.
