Wharf Rat User ID: 79386534 United States 04/14/2021 06:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tried doing a weekly thing but i failed and the grass always got too long so i gave the mower away and let the grass grow now. it is lovely. Quoting: rewind that probably looks pretty! I'm worried about ticks, we use the yard a lot. I have a tick story to end all tick stories... [Viewer discretion advised] One time I was booked at this hippie festival in New England. The show went fine, it was pretty much what you would expect (except the opening act was a single guy, early 20's, who played a bone... No shitting you, he used a violin bow to "bow" this bone... for almost 30 minutes straight! It was fuckin stupid at first, and then it became kind of funny, and by the end I and everybody else kind of fell into a trance. It was unreal, and yet totally unrelated to this story, except tangentially.) Anyhoo, the bone guy finished, I played my set -- which fairly rocked -- and then instead of driving back home I crushed a bunch of beers and got really high on New England homegrown and ended up sleeping in the field overnight. No biggie, just another day at the office, right? Wrong! The next morning I wake up itching my you-know-whats off. Me and everybody else who were dancing and sleeping in that field. Turns out we all slept on a patch of poison ivy. Long story short, I tried to "walk it off", but you can't just walk-off poison ivy. It got everywhere! Places where people take rolled up tax statements and tell you to shove it where the sun don't shine, if you get my drift. And yes, I tried oatmeal baths and calamine lotion but three days later it has spread to my scalp, my eyelids, everywhere... So I finally went to a doctor. I'm making this story way longer than it needs to be, but the bottom line is that the doctor asked me if I had been bitten by any ticks this year. I said yeah, like fifty so far (which was true) so she ran a titer and I came back Lyme positive. Not a huge surprise, since I was living about 25 miles from Lyme, CT at the time, the epicenter and eponym of the disease. So basically I had to take a bunch of steroids for my poison ivy rash AND doxycycline (sp?) for the Lyme crap, and I couldn't drink any beer for like two weeks because it would counteract with the medicines I was supposed to take. That wasn't actually so bad; I just smoked a lot more pot than usual and wrote like 20 songs during a three-day fever which came afterward. Anyway, ticks are nothing to fool around with. That's my story, and that's my message to y'all. FINAL THOUGHT: Baby ticks (nymphs) are almost impossible to detect, and worse, they're the ones that are most likely to transmit the virus. So, be careful out there, GLP Cheers! ~Wharf Rat |

I told him his GLP friends were getting concerned about him, and he told me to tell youse guyses that the demands of his life are a bit overwhelming, he's trying to keep healthy, and there's too much going on for him to be online right now. He does appreciate the love....and it'd be a good time for all of us to send good intentions and say prayers for him. My heart to yours.... You never change things by fighting the existing reality. Quoting: rewind that probably looks pretty! I'm worried about ticks, we use the yard a lot. I would find them right away. I am not worried about them. I never got one but my sisters did all the time One time i set the tent right up in a nest of them or however they live. They were in a bush living and then enter my tent.. I was creeped out and never got a tick even living right on them. LOL that's good! I've never had one either but Vlad has me paranoid about them especially when I am out hiking in the woods. They put stupid signs warning about them on the trails and then Vlad and his hypochondria is like, let's not. grass fed sardines |

Sorry to hear he that he is overwhelmed with the demands placed on his shoulders.. If you talk nex to him also give mr regards. Im not full au fey with his circumstances but I do know that the demands of `some` individuals within his life can be demanding and draining. If you are able... Let him know he is NOT alone, even when at times it can feel like the world is on his shoulders, and he carries the burden off the world... He is one set of shoulders amongst a world of shoulders. As painful as it is sometimes its good to talk, and when he is able... He will have a lot of support on offer here. If he feels low down... he will go through it and WILL improve... Sometimes it offers so much... knowing there is `someone` there evven if you dont talk to them.... Its just knowing someone is there. IF YOU HAVE A FEVER DO NOT LOWER IT WITH MEDS.... All he wants to do is ride around the elementary school and show off in front of the kids, he just likes how they just stare at him in awe. I told him we better not, one of their parents might be close by and they will say that one, that's the one I want and we'll never see his bike again. I told him only during the day while the kids are in school we can ride in front of the windows. grass fed sardines |
