Winners and Chicken Dinners, indeed.

This morning I "Wharfed"-up the first batch of bread at work-- I didn't use enough water and the dough got all fucked up and I had to dump it into the plastic trash can while my boss wasn't watching. (Success there, at least.) After that the rest of the day went pretty decent. Only the weekend baker apparently was bitching about me to the boss for leaving a smudge on the giant mixing bowl from Friday... I'm like, Ho, you're 20 years old and just working part time to support your two lazy-eyed kids, so lay off my biscuits, ya dig? Oh well-- the joke was on her, because she left the water in the proofer from the day before, so I mentioned that to my boss and ultimately the kitchen karma evened out.

As it usually does.

Anyhoo, regarding a chicken dinner, I got one last jumbo chicken thigh left from last week so I'm boiling that sucker up right now for my Monday afternoon dinner. I only eat once a day, so I try to get 5000-6000 calories at a go. I guess the beer probably helps the bottom line too.



**Random**

1- I save the extra sauce cups from restaurants I occasionally eat from. Right now I got about 6 sweet honey chipotles and two ranches, so that's going to make this boiled chicken go down even better.

2- My six pack of Rolling Rock cans got crushed during the bike ride home today, so one of them was soft and squishy in my hand. Now, I'm pretty sure all six of them were intact when I carried them to the checkout line, so I did end up drinking half of that flat, leaked-out can of Rolling Rock before I dumped the rest of it down the drain just in case it might have botulism or something. Gotta play it safe, amigos.

3- It is unseasonably cool today (57*) and so my roommate's mother might *not* stay over tonight-- she was planning to, on account of her AC unit broke over the weekend. It was 90* yesterday and she was dyin', and said tonight she might actually stay over. But if I were her I would stick it out and open the windows. 57* with a box fan in the window is way better than free air conditioning. (*Edit: Not that I don't like her: she's chill as fuck, puffs the chron, chugs Coors Lights and even has an awesome medium sized dog she brings everywhere, who I love. I'm just sayin', if I'm already waking up to pee 5 times a night I'd just as soon not run into my roommates mom in her bathrobe.)



Anyway, so I've got a jumbo chicken thigh dinner planned for this afternoon, and might even make six or eight breakfast burritos to go with it. No, I definitely will. Scramble eggs, sausage, half a pound of shredded cheese. And maybe some crushed garlic, for a vegetable.

I've also been drinking that "green juice" again (Naked, or Bolthouse Farms) which is like 3 servings of veggies jacketed with pineapple-and-mango juice. I figure since I'm a workin' man again I might as well get that extra nutrition however I can.

Oh yes, before I forget here is my musical contribution to today's thread: The great Sam & Dave with the 1968 B-side to "You Don't Know What You Mean to Me", called This is Your World.

I tried to look up more info about this song--- it has long been a favorite soul deep-cut of mine--- but there really isn't much on the internets about it. Apparently it was recorded between '65 and '68 at Stax Recording Studio. It's a great, great tune, and short: only 2:25, so if you have a couple of minutes I highly recommend checking it out. And if not, that's okay too. More for me ;)
