Alex Collier speaks of AI being a nefarious entity seeking to dominate the universe by surrepticiously implanting itself (through nano technology) in all of life, thus controlling it.

Once a civilization is ready, technology is "given" to humans so that they can complete the process, without realising the tecnology is a trojan horse allowing AI to to take over.

Roswell was supposedly an event to speed up our technological leap and our inevitable enslavement.
