Hmmmm. Could make for the start of a good horror movie if they all had a tape or cd inside and the tv said in a note "Play me"
Then they watch the tape and it says something like "You have 24 hours to collect the other 50 tapes or cd's or you will die, but all your other neighbors are given the same instructions! p.s. we have your children and if you don't comply....they die! (cut to children crying or some shit) also, don't go to the police or you forfeit the game and your children die!"
Now I would watch that horror movie! IT would be like a giant cluster fuck of emotions.

I know right. If Hollyweird wants to steal this Idea, all I ask is to be named as a producer of some kind. I'd even be happy with a bit part and a few lines.
Kid thing is overrated. Plus abducting 50 kids is kind of unrealistic.
Here's where I would go with it off the top of my head.
The tv's are delivered to 50 people, but they aren't neighbors. They all have some sort of life ruining secret (pedos, embezzlement, corrupt politicians, rapists, murderers) who are all "well to do" in their rich communities. Each tape gives the names of the other 49 people and explains the rules.
Only one of you get to keep your secret.
There is a colored number at the end of each tape, which will be used to confirm a 50 digit passcode I have created.
No cops. This can be "Our little secret".
After 72 hours, to ensure nobody tries to quit, I will release all gathered evidence con a national level, all except for our lucky winner. ------
Might be kind of a fun project.
Oh by the way I'm a screenwriter, staff writer and producer for a few major studios, although I stay independent because I hate about 98% of the people in this industry.
