From far away, the SU-27 wouldn’t fare too well. The F-18 could fire a couple AMRAAM missiles out of its visual range and blow it to pieces. This is the thing some people don’t understand. US jets outclass Russia’s when it comes to long range combat.

Russian planes and pilots are actually exceptionally quality machines. US may have F-35s etc. But I would rather an SU-57 any day.

I believe that the Russians are actually ahead of the west in a lot of ways.

Russian planes are really quite formidable planes. I believe that the west is not at all to under estimate the Russian quality military services and assets.

When the shooting actually starts, the USAF will be just as shocked as they were when Russian Migs made a surprise appearance in the Korean War.

The Us aircraft was just inspecting the flight for safety reasons, when that crazy russian tried to smash his plane into the americans.
The russians should be banned internationally from flying any aircraft with this kind of behaviour.

The reality is that *if* there was a real problem the Russian Defense Minister's plane would be gone.

The NATO jet NEVER had to get that close.

Air to Air missiles have exceptional range, as in 20-30 miles I believe.

The two fighters could take each other out from the same distance.

I think this is more a show of respect and acknowledgement more than anything.

I am American and i must admit that i agree with you 100%
The Pentagon has blew its load on the F22 (still has problems) then broke the record spending on the F35 and still i believe the SU-57 is superior to all American fighters.
Sadly, i believe Russia has better fighter pilots as well. Of course we all know that anything they openly display is old technology by the time its gone public. I cant imagine what they have hidden in those "classified" hangers.
IMO the American military industrial complex does way to much chest thumping and openly boasting "world superiority".
