BTW, just in case anyone wonders, the Hebrew Masoretic text is corrupted at Numbers 23:19. The Masoretic is emphatically not the original Hebrew.

If you read the same verse in the much older (and correct) Greek Septuagint, you will see that it preserves the original Hebrew reading.

Numbers 23:19
God is not as man to waver, nor as the son of man to be threatened; shall he say and not perform? shall he speak and not keep to his word?

The Greek word is is used in both cases. Balaam is not indicating here that God cannot exist in human form. He is saying that God's nature is not as man's fallen nature to waver and be intimidated, because that is what Balak is attempting to do to God in this context.

The Masoretic text is a late corruption and carefully manicured text that was begun after the Bar Kokhba revolt. It is untrustworthy in many places and takes every opportunity and license to reword the text with a slant that is anti-Christian.

However, the Septuagint remains a firm witness of the original wording.
