They used it in medicines and in mining and it made it's way into the eco system via fish. Pollution isn't a new thing. I don't really disagree with the headline though. I remember much less anxiety in the olden days. Although, lots more people were diagnosed with asthma then. Sometimes I think some anxiety diagnoses are breathing issues. I was looking through a victorian newspaper and asthma was a thing People used to move to the desert for some sorts of breathing disorders I agree with many of the ideas put forward. Also, the over-cleanliness of our houses is a thing that made people less robust over time. Most places had at least a few animals. One of the most important things we NEED is tribe, and people knew who their tribe was back then, and typically lived with them, or near them. It's a NEED, and without it, one feel chronically ill-at-ease. |

That is not to say they never had some bad memory creep into mind--it is not a pleasant thing to see a buddy blown to bits. However, they clearly were not on some pussyfying mind-altering drugs. They dealt with it like men. If things were tough to deal with tey could talk to another vet--not going to talk to some worthless, pill-pushing shrink. Today, people are shoved into seeing the pill pushers. Do you think it is normal for the number of military suicides during the last 15 years? It is not normal--it IS tied directly to legally mandated and pushed mind-altering drugs. BTW, I had a sister in law that blew her brains out. She was an RN. She had a wonderful home, family, very good looking and enough money--between her and hubby well over 300 hundred grand a year. Everything to live for, but some Doctor convinced her she was depressed and needed some nice pills to help her out. Yea, those helped alright. |
