Bow Vs. 22 LR
Which would you rather have in a SHTF sitch?

The bow is silent...but the reach of a 22 LR is much greater.

Plus it's MUCH EASIER to carry 22 rounds than it is arrows...so the number of shots is greatly increased.

What say you?

It's doesn't take much skill to shoot a plinker.

A nice biathlon .22lr with the toggle type bolt is accurate as hell given the "bolt" action.

If I can only have one that's what I'd opt for.

I has a semi--auto 22 LR as a kid & it was very accurate.

I set empty pop cans on a log & plinked them from 40 yards...I would see one wobble & walk out to check it...I hit dead center & it didn't knock the can over...just punched a hole thru it :)

Those cans can be tough to put down...

Imagine an army of angry, empty Pepsi cans with revenge as their only thought...

Just meant thecan is thin/weak: .22lr is a lethal round. I'l take a plain bolt action .22lr rifle anyday.

Don't waste your time with a 22LR.
Get a BB gun for small birds and game.

That plink means dinner time.

The Xbow is quiet and more importantly re-usable ammo like the bow.

I used to have a heavy barrel savage. 22 that was accurate as hell.

I challenge you to hit a pop can with a bow & NOT knock it over.

Re: Bow Vs. 22 LR
Hey, I'm not knocking bolt action...I know it makes them more accurate. But semi-auto is no slouch either.

What you give up in accuracy you gain in repeat fire. IMO the diminished accuracy is minor...but repeated fire is MAJOR!

If I was trying to hit an egg at 100 yards...Yes, I would want a bolt action too!

Re: Bow Vs. 22 LR
Ruger 10/22 with 30-round banana or 100 round drum. SO many reason to have one as women and children can handle it in self-defense: [link to www.gunbacker.com (secure)]

Load up with some Winchester 555 .22 hollow points from Walmart and fire as fast as you can. Shot tons of them, for cheap ($13/box) and they were consistent, no jams.

I promise that anything coming at you will stop after a few rounds in that, they hurt more than a BB and will fragment inside sensitive areas.

Sure, against ANYONE or ANYTHING that wants to get at you, bigger with stopping power and/or penetration is the way to go.

Way ahead of you! A pellet rifle is the way to go for bunnies & squirrels...And I have one. I also have a BB gun but it wouldn't kill, just sting.

Same as if I was really fishing for my dinner...I would go for sunnies & blue gills....not the huge monster fish.

I've got both a .22 and .177 air rifle that cost the same. The .22 is far more lethal. Not even sure what your argument is???

I THINK it goes back to my OP...it's silent. (relative to a 22 LR).
