Is it time to move the Capital of the United States of America?
After watching various MSM shows and numerous politicians and political pundits over the weekend I would like to offer a solution to the stalemate that has developed among our elected Representatives and Senators in truly representing the American People.

Washington D.C., the current Capital of the United States of America has become too much of a distraction for any meaningful work to be accomplished by our Representatives. Both House and Senate Representatives are paid $174,000 (+ benefits)a year and work an average of 138 days a year which is about 1 day out of 3 for $1,260 a day - I don't think we are getting our money's worth from what I'm seeing. Too many distractions, unlimited restaurant meals, private trips, parties, etc., is taking up too much of their limited working time. Every Politician that can talk tells us endlessly that volunteer to run for office to serve and protect the people of the United States, the same as soldiers volunteer to serve in the military to serve and protect the people of the United States.

The Capital has previously been moved 8 additional times since it was located for the first time in Philadelphia, PA. Washington, D.C. is not a large capital, only about 700,000 people so moving it would be doable.

My solution to helping our elected politicians do some actual work for the people they so want to serve - Move the Capital of the United States of America. I would like to see the Capital moved to one of the Western States like Wyoming or Montana. The federal government already owns tens of thousands of acres in these state, there are federal parks, and military bases so the land for the new Capital is already a government asset. Since the politicians like to think of themselves as serving the public like our soldiers, let them live and work like our soldiers - build dormitories to house them during the 138 days they are expected to show up for work, and feed them in community messhalls with the same food our soldiers enjoy. There would be no need to build any additional airfields as there are existing ones in nearby cities and they handle commercial aircraft daily. From the airfields local bus and shuttle service would be provided to take them to their dorms. Everyone would be equal and expected to work , go to the messhall to eat, and return to the dorm to read or watch tv like the people they are so proud to represent. If they can't come to agreement on important issues during the 138 days of regular session, they would be required to stay until an agreement was reached. I realize this is dreaming, but what a difference it woudl make if there were no tv cameras in the meeting for the politicians to look into and posture and shout, no vendors vendors hanging around with easy favors, tickets, and specials for consideration - anyway, just my ramblings as I consider how the MSM is going to react to 4 more years of the Trump Presidency - flame
