Fukushima: New desalination plant coming to California | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77855690 ![]() 08/30/2019 09:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The new desalination plant will affect almost all of Orange County. This is a big deal. The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is a wholesale water supplier and resource planning agency that serves all of Orange County through 28 retail water agencies (with the exception of the cities of Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana). Local water supplies meet more than half of Orange County’s total water demand. To meet the remaining demand, MWDOC purchases imported water- from the Colorado River and from the State Water Project in the north- through the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and distributes this water to its 28 member agencies. These agencies, made up of both city water departments and water districts, provide retail water services to the public. [link to www.mwdoc.com (secure)] |

Because, if it's the latter, let Darwin proceed with his work and all. God gave people free will so they could argue themselves into an early grave. Anonymous Coward User ID: 77855690 ![]() 08/30/2019 10:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well hopefully they will filter the water. carbon filters remove everything, including radioactive particles. they are expensive to use though. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74950944 You made me look that up. There is new technology that can apparently be used to remove tritium. Will it be used in the new desalination plant? I think radiation is being removed from the water in the desalination plant in San Diego, but they haven't removed tritium as far as I know. I seriously doubt that this brand new technology is being used there. Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen. Water containing tritium has chemical features almost identical to water with ordinary hydrogen, and separating tritium water is difficult. The research team, comprising professor Tatsuhiko Ihara of Kindai University specializing in inorganic material chemistry, and researchers from Osaka-based Toyo Aluminium K.K. and others, has developed an aluminum filter with extremely tiny holes 5 nanometers or less in diameter each. The filter can stop vapors of tritium water, and the separation rate was "almost 100 percent," according to a team representative. [link to mainichi.jp (secure)] I don't care about any of that personally. The most frightening thing is what Michio Kaku calls a "cocktail" of radioactive materials in the video embedded below. Kevin Blanch calls it "Fuktonium." It's a new radioactive element created by Fukushima that hasn't been discovered yet. It's impossible to know if you're filtering something when you don't know what it is. Anyway, as Kaku says, there's plutonium coming from Fukushima. Since a microscopic particle of plutonium will kill you, do you want to risk your life daily on whether 100% of it is being filtered in your tap water? ![]() [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |
