WTF, there were more women executed than men in Salem.
Traditionally "witches' have been women in White country.
When you have good spectral evidence, like...
"I saw Mary Jane Doe enter her house at midnight, and later a black cat came out of the window, and ran into the forest"....
then you got a lot of females to string up or burn.

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77957859 Back in those days, anyone doing the black arts was a witch, and a man could be a witch just as a woman. In fact, the witch king was the most feared witch of all, and it always had to be a man. That's what Reverend George Burroughs was accused of. It was him they accused of signing up witches around Salem to make pacts with the devil. George Burroughs said they were all stark raving mad and ignorant of the Scriptures, for there is nothing in Scripture of women turning into black dogs. And right he was. Well, of course, that didn't satiate the judge's blood lust, so Burroughs and many others were hanged, upon which the court could seize their properties. Quoting: sisatsana888 9645480 hah...most witches in White country put to death were women, rarely men especially cat ladies....sabrina the blue-eyed platinum blonde witch, from archie warlock is the term for men, sometimes wizard however in Nigeria and African countries, witch refers to a man, rarely to a woman while the term witch-doctor always is a man, a doctorate of witchcraft . Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77957859 Yeah, ok, whatever. Believe what you will through lense of your feminist revisionist history. "Witch" actually used to be more commonly understood to denote a male in league with the devil. Hardly anyone knows the real story of Salem today. A bunch of mean Puritans hanged blonde haired teenage witches, right? This generation is hopeless. Quoting: sisatsana888 9645480 Sorry, you dont know anything! 3/4 of people executed for witchcraft were females. For three centuries of early modern European history, diverse societies were consumed by a panic over alleged witches in their midst. Witch-hunts, especially in Central Europe, resulted in the trial, torture, and execution of tens of thousands of victims, about three-quarters of whom were women. Arguably, neither before nor since have adult European women been selectively targeted for such largescale atrocities. [ link to www.faculty.umb.edu (secure)] The greatest risk was owning a cat, especially black cats. If you also looked rather unusual, as compared to the general population, like being light golden/platinum blonde or red haired, then you were also more likely to be executed. The key to surviving a witch trial in White country: 1. Dont be a woman 2. Dont own cats. 3. Dont look too unusual. .
