Greenwich geophysicists expect a phenomenon that has not been observed for 360 years

Over the next two weeks, an event will happen that has not happened for 360 years: the compass needle at the Royal Greenwich Observatory will point to the "true" north. In other words, for the first time in several centuries, “magnetic” north and “true” coincide.

According to the British Geological Survey, this will not affect the operation of GPS systems, magnetic compasses and gyrocompasses.

Let us explain what is the uniqueness of the expected event.

We are accustomed to the idea that the “north” is a fixed direction that unmistakably points to the North Pole.

In fact, there are two "versions" of the north. There is a "true", or geographical north. This is the direction to the North Pole (the point of intersection of the axis of rotation of the Earth with its surface).

But there is also “magnetic” north, which is indicated by the arrow on the magnetic compass. The "magnetic" north pole is hundreds of kilometers from the geographic and is constantly "drifting".

The generation of the magnetic field of our planet is a complex and incompletely studied process. The main role in it is played by electric currents in the core, however, currents in the upper atmosphere, magnetic rocks of the earth's crust and even the mantle should not be discounted.

The magnetic poles of our planet are constantly shifting (the mechanism of this phenomenon is not yet fully understood). And, of course, magnetic compasses respond to this displacement.

That is why many navigation charts have a note that says how "magnetic" north differs from "true" and in which direction the first is shifted.

I wonder why they are lying about the yearly rate of excursion. Or saying it's all random, then contradicting themselves four minutes later, then back to random again. Most of the sources, liars. The only ones speaking some truth are the ones admitting they don't know what will happen in a full reversal, or even a softer excursion scenario. It's funny how even the "experts" sometimes mix up the terms, like geomagnetic north pole, north dip pole, magnetic north pole, true geographic north, geometric-magnetic north pole, etc. What a mess.

Here is another popular video uploaded only yesterday.

"No extinctions during reversals/excursions" - More lies. We must be closer to a possible
catastrophe than even the "dissidents" tell us. All is cyclical and follows rules, don't forget.
