Probably when they started packing all of our meat products full of growth hormones to maximize profits... that’d be my guess.

I believe that to be true, people are larger, all the kids today have huge butts, I think it’s all those preservatives etc, the liver doesn’t know what to do with it so it stores it in fat cells.

Obesity is often a consequence of stress...Cortisol and other stress hormones cause a "fight or flight" response which tells the body to store fat and increase appetite...

Re: When did people get so big?? Observations from the grocery store.
I would have to lean towards metabolic disrupter's in our food. These hormones could be delaying the epihphyseal plates in our bones from sealing thus allowing people to continue to grow.

The epiphyseal plate is an area at the long end of the bone that contains growing bone. As people develop, the bone grows longer as a result of activity inside this area. These plates permit growth after birth, allowing the long bones of the body to extend and a person to grow as he or she reaches maturity. Once growth is completed and the person reaches full maturity and stature, the new bone slowly hardens and the plate turns into the epiphyseal line.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76859755

So, is the possible delay in these plates resulting in weak bone?

If so, not good in the long term perspective.
 Quoting: DEPLORABLE Lady Jayne Smith

Don’t know anything but it seems to me epiphyseal plates could possibly affect the growth in those who have had too many ultrasounds while in vitro or as young children. Just a hunch.

Seed oils like soybean oil, corn oil, canola oil, etc are in everything now.

Studies show that this type of fat is stored directly in your fat cells, so that you actually gain more weight at the same caloric intake then you would eating, for example, meat containing saturated fat.

In addition they disrupt the signal that would normally make you feel satiated, so that you also consume more before feeling full.

It's not the oil.

We have all of those oils in Spain.

We have the occasional fat person but it's very rare to see someone morbidly obese.

It is the oil, saturated fat has mostly been replaced with these oils in the US. Your body can only deal with a small percentage in the diet, but everything here contain them now, they are in all processed food and all restaurants use them. It is extremely difficult to avoid them.
We realized they weren't healthy, without understanding the science behind it until recently, and have been avoiding these oils for the past decade, but if someone is eating a standard American diet they are screwed.

Prescription drugs, Illegal drugs, alcohol, vaccines, chemtrails, radiation, food-intolerances, wheat, sugar, fake sugars, endless list of poisonous chemicals in food, plastics, human growth hormones, A1 dairy(acts like an opioid), fluoride in the water, lithium in the water, too many wireless electronics, fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, Roundup, genetically modified foods, nutritionally deficient food, demoralizing TV, trauma from the news.

I'm sure there's more reasons. Say if I missed any.

Re: When did people get so big?? Observations from the grocery store.
For whatever reason I really noticed it yesterday morning at the grocery store. The people were huge, not just overweight, but tall. I am an over 50 woman and stand at about five feet tall with a medium build.

When I was in high school 80-83 it seemed the tallest girls were about 5’7” or 8” and I remember my friend on the boys basketball team was the tallest at 6’4”. There were only a few overweight kids, and they weren’t obese, but chubby. I went to school in what would be considered rural SC and our school was about 60% white to 40% black (as an aside, there were no racial issues at all as I remember it and everyone got along).

I first noticed super big people about 10 years ago on a visit home while in a bar. The bar was full of what looked to be college kids and as I was trying to leave a girl stood up in front of me and all I saw was her butt. She must have been 7’ feet tall, and she was big. I was shocked, so much so, I still remember it. I felt bad for her, actually, and imagined it had to be uncomfortable as she kind of lumbered out in front of me.

So yesterday morning we’re in the city doing our shopping at Kroger, we’re mostly there for produce and dairy and a few odds and ends, and the store is busy. It was one of those days where it seems everyone is blocking the aisles or standing in front of what I need, and the energy felt rushed, like there wasn’t enough for everyone. Approaching the diary section I was cut off by a tall, obese woman with a huge buggy (shopping cart) and stopped and stared, every person in the diary section was huge, like over 6 feet tall and fat. The women were big, the men were bigger, and the children were well on their way to being bigger than their parents. What in the hell?

Being small has its advantages and I slithered in and retrieved the butter (not margarine) I was seeking, and we got out of there as fast as possible. Hubby and I talked about it on the way home, reminiscing of what we remembered from our youth and how people have changed. He went to school in New England and said there was only one fat kid in his high school.

Now everywhere you look you see giant people, not just overweight, but tall. I don’t recall ever being aware of my small stature until the last decade, and at 5’1” there were shorter people than me in my dealings, but now I rarely see them and when I do they are older.

It’s easy to see that we are evolving to be bigger, looking at uniforms and dresses from the civil war era shows they we have gotten larger, and even looking at sewing patterns from the 1960s show that women have gotten bigger. I wonder how much of that is a natural event, and how much is from the bad food, water, and prescriptions.

The people I saw yesterday are not healthy, and it was funny, or scary, that I saw one average sized person and she stood out. The young woman of a normal size stood out because she was the only one in the store who looked healthy.
 Quoting: Turtle Flower

I am smaller than you, 4'11" 91 pounds. I will be 66 in December. I am a size 0 to 1 in clothes, depending on the manufacturer.I eat very little meat, but can really pig out on seafood. I eat a lot of dairy and vegetables. No margarine for me, just butter.Lots of butter ! :) I like chocolate too, and eat a small bar every day for a snack.

I think the problem is not just the food. It is not so much their intake, they are not active at all.I walk my dog several times a day, and 2 of the walks, depending on the weather, are about a mile long. I volunteer for at least a couple of days a week, sorting, cleaning, and transporting donations to local charities.I can't sit still, I just got to keep moving. The only time I ever got "fat", was when I was pregnant with my kids.

There were no "fat" kids anywhere when I was a kid. Sometimes you would see a kid on the chubby side, but definitely not obese. Back then, though, we were outside, playing, gardening, fishing, riding our bikes, building forts, climbing trees, etc. Watching TV was something we only did maybe for an hour a day, and usually that was saturday morning cartoons. The rest of the time was playing outside, unless the weather was bad. When the weather was bad, we could still play ping-pong on the table in the basement, or use the pogo stick in the basement. There was always the train set to tinker with, when we were bored.

The push button generation needs to put their devices down, and enjoy the outdoors. Get out, get moving, and get healthy!

It's not.

Why would a gallon jug of olive oil cost a couple dollars?

Also, if it did, it would be one of the mixes, olive oil as flavor mixed in with something cheaper.

Look, Spain is the closest thing on this planet to America when it comes to food.

Same size grocery stores.
Same size packaging (Spain's might actually be bigger).
Near identical taste in food.
Lots of land for farming.
Lots of cheap junk food in big bags.
Same TVs.
Same SUVs.

The only major difference is when you read the label, the only ingredients on it are food. Not chemicals. And last time I checked, the EU didn't allow growth hormones.

AND LACK OF SWEATING!

Go ahead, block off those under arms. Use all natural mud, and olive oil. JUST MAKE SURE YOU BLOCK THEM OFF because God put 30 lymph nodes under each arm so you could block them off..../pfft

BLOCK THE CHIMNEY IN YOUR HOUSE WHAT HAPPENS? ALL THE TARDS COME RUNNING OUT YACKING!

3 GALLONS OF FLUID IN THE LYMPH SYSTEM! THREE (3)! Where does the waste go? Liver? Stools, urine? NO! NONE OF THOSE! UNDER THE ARMS! 10% leaves through mucus and nose blowing.

Eight pages of people blocking off their under arms refusing to SWEAT. Unreal "gee it must be the dairy"

Block off your under arms and guess where the metals, chemicals and biological toxins try to escape next??

NIPPLES! MAMMAL GLANDS! WELCOME TO BREAST CANCER! (all lymph nodes contain dead and live cancer cells, it's their job to collect waste). Doctor does a biopsy because of a swollen gland (lump) and he gets the exacto knife out. SO KEEP BLOCKING THOSE UNDER AMRS OFF AND GET YOUR BREAST CANCER TODAY!!

Cancer resistant? OK HOW ABOUT FEMALE CANCER INSTEAD??!! If toxins can't drain under the arm or through the nipple, guess where the toxins try to escape next?

BETWEEN THE LEGS! YUMMY!

Pregnant? Baby born? Guess what!

THE TOXINS GO FROM THE MOTHER TO THE BABY IN THE WOMB! THEN YOU BREAST FEED ALLOWING THE TRAPPED TOXINS INTO YOUR CHILD THROUGH THE NIPPLE!!
Thats just as bad as the vaccinations.

Underarm products are made of Aluminum. Aluminum creates Alzheimer, inflammation. So do all toxic metals. Instead of a twisted and swollen ankle, PEOPLE'S ENTIRE BODIES ARE SWOLLEN! GET IT? So, as if blocking them off wasn't bad enough, people add more aluminum. Great.

Stop blocking off your under arms
Stop eating all the crap listed above
SWEAT IN A SAUNA, Plastic tent, on the beach, where ever, just sweat as much as possible. At 25yo it takes 6mo to get metals out which cause inflammation. THEN YOU DIET. At 50yo around 1.5 years. 60yo 2 years. Formulate from there.

Stop making excuses. Bodies that sweat are usually perfect bodies. Athletes, etc. Ever see a fat NASCAR driver? They sweat 4hrs every Sunday. Ever see a fat Rock Star? Rare. They sweat every two nights. THINK

You should read the Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. He explains that obesity is a result of constant elevated insulin levels. These elevated levels are a result of people eating the standard American diet which is high in refined carbohydrates and sugar. Insulin spikes high from these types of food and elevated insulin causes the body to store fat, hence the rising rates of obesity in Americans. This eventually leads to type 2 Diabetes if the diet continues for long enough without changing eating habits.
