You can buy MSM at most any tack or feed store, hardware stores in rural areas have it, too, places like Blaine's I think has it, Thiesen's has it for sure that's where I get mine. The stuff makes you fart like crazy. I also take Equimax and Safeguard to self-treat for every kind of parasite twice a year. |

I think I might have actually stumbled onto a CHEAP EFFECTIVE REMEDY. I had shingles for years. I would always get them in the summer and attributed it to too much sun, as we would stay on the beach in July. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77086501 TURNS out it was cashews. My inlaws always had cashews and they are my FAVORITE NUTS! One day I read an article waiting in line in Whole Foods about eating for your blood type. It said for me, if I ever had chicken pox, etc. that cashews would kick off outbreaks. Still miss cashews but haven't had an outbreak in more than 10 years. Cashews, Anacardium occidentale are in the same family as poison ivy and poison sumac. Like those plants, the cashew plant contains powerful chemical irritants known as anacardic acids, so handling and eating raw cashews will cause the familiar itchy skin reaction in people sensitive to the chemicals. Eat raw onions often. Tell us about your PERSONAL experience with this. How long shingles, your routine with your onion. Stupid. Ive actually read that putting an onion against the ear for ear itching and pain is very effective. Whats so stupid about an onion? Must be the sulfur in the onion that works. And not stupid at all. |

I think I might have actually stumbled onto a CHEAP EFFECTIVE REMEDY. Came down with shingles few years back, tried every OTC remedy for the itching, nothing seemed to work. I searched online and was recommended peppermint oil, and it worked instanly, soothed my itching and I was able to finally rest. OT, but it works wonders for sunburns aswell. Thanks! |

I think I might have actually stumbled onto a CHEAP EFFECTIVE REMEDY. Thanks for the info op. Quoting: Peepaws I am terrified of getting shingles. They say it's one of the most painful conditions, I have a couple relatives who had it and they said it was the worst pain they ever experienced. Doctors won't prescribe pain meds anymore. I had an accident last year where I lost a finger tip and the er gave me a shot of something that is formulated to not make you high which did nothing, and the doctor sent me home with 2 pain pills. When I saw a couple doctors for it afterwards they didn't ask about pain and I didn't bring it up either. A good friend recently had kidney stones which was very painful but again no one wanted to bring up the pain topic, and did she ever suffer. Doctors see any complaints of pain as drug seeking behavior, even if you just had a fingertip amputated. Shingles is excruciatingly painful, so any tips on how to possibly treat it so it is not quite as bad as it could otherwise be is very helpful. Since both of my sister got shingles, one on her back, the other on her face with eye issues, now, my insurance paid for the newest Shingles vaccine, which is over 90% effective. I am 59. 2 shots about 4 months apart. I got the second one yesterday. Good luck with that. |

I think I might have actually stumbled onto a CHEAP EFFECTIVE REMEDY. At first suspicion of shingles hit it hard with lysine and extra high doses of liposomal C. This will minimize outbreak. In addition to other great suggestions here, put bentonite clay poultice on the sores overnight, or as often as you like. Love your info, OP. Will add sulfur to arsenal for the person I help. |
