Most of us were fortunate to live through the better decades of life in America. True American culture died after 16 years of George W Bush and Obamanation as POTUS. There is always hope, but the evil globalists are winning. All I can do is keep praying that the Lord returns soon to cast out all evil and usher in the age of love and peace. Amen to that! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77945585 United States 09/16/2019 09:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They weren't even really rock, but they sound very rock compared to what I hear today. I miss some of these sounds. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69942021 Reminds me of all the times over the recent past I've seen cars going by or at gas stations with their speakers turned up high and blasting rap music. With "lyrics" about the N-word, hos, pimps, pussies, fucking, motherfuckin,' thugging, raping, looting. Lots of entertainment in today's era is a variation of the same theme. TV shows and movies celebrating freaks, weirdos and "goddamn America, your chickens are coming home to roost." A more culturally, politically liberal America (today's US president is merely a short respite) is so nice, warm and huggable. . yep, absolute garbage out there now. I remember playing the cars while cruising with my HS girlfriend. As well as other activities. |

Quoting: Regal Beast Benjamin had a far better voice and face. Benjamin was way more 70's soft rock looking. He did get his feature in the "Drive" video though. The 80s and the advent of MTV meant every band had be equally visual and musically talented. Ric was a freaky looking dude and the label decided to capitalize on it (the keyboard player became more prominent in videos too.) You should check out how Whitesnake used to look before their 80's makeover. You gotta do what the label tells you or you'll get dropped and blackballed in the industry. |

I was staying at a hotel on South Beach Miami in the winter for work. Everyday I would see this tall, pale lanky man walk by to the coffee shop. One day I decided I wanted to meet this odd looking person in a sea of tan bodies out there, he really stuck out! So I walked up to him and said “hi you look like an interesting person I just wanted to meet you.” He introduced himself as Ric Ocasek and asked me if I had ever heard of The Cars the band? Of course! I introduced myself and he asked me if I wanted to walk over to the hotel he was working at, it was a recording studio in the hotel. Really cool hotel, so we get to the studio and he introduces me to Weazer Band who he was producing on their album. Hung out will they played music for a while. He was super nice! That was it, I had to get to work, I thanked him for a cool time and left. RIP Ric. |
