Good time to rotate! upside anyways. And you get to redesign and rebuild it all!

Most of my prep is small animals and garden with alot of hydropnic and aquaponics tanks and grow beds.

yes moving 5mil calories in #10cans will suck! half is in 6 cans in a case
Water is 500 gal tanks so not to bad to move bulky though!
about 2000 Lbs of feed store seeds and oats ect.
Moving the tools and hardware will be the worst but if you got the time and money to build some better storage than it is a win!

Good Luck with the move!
I am putting a new roof on so it is a lot of work to, I will trade with ya!

I've read that as long as the can isn't dented or puffed out, it's probably fine. I think you would know by smell or taste if it is ok to eat.

Packing up all my can good really was a pain in the ass!lmao

Pretty much.

The procedure is:

Does it look okay? Yes -> Smell it

Does it smell okay? Yes -> Taste it (don't swallow immediately)

Does it taste okay? Yes -> Eat it, it's probably good.

If the can is puffy, then you're probably dealing with botulism.

Dented, there's a chance that there is a tear in the can, air got in and it's bad.

I've eaten 10 year "expired" MREs and was just fine.

In Missouri, we have 2nd chance food stores where 80% of the products are past their "best by" dates, but totally good. I shop for all of my shelf stable food there.

I've dumpster dove at different times in my life, and 99% of the dairy products they throw out are still good, especially anything that's cultured, as long as you get it soon after it's thrown out (if it's warm to the touch, then it's probably best to leave it behind)

Eggs are good for like 6 weeks after their "sell by" date and I've rescued thousands from dumpsters and they were just fine. Boil em, throw em in vinegar brine and you've got pickled eggs for months. They'll stay good at room temp even.

People are so wasteful. They don't realize that the "expiration" "sell by" or "best by" dates are for the merchant, not the consumer. It's a mainly a liability thing.

Although some things like chicken, pork and lamb are a no go, even a few days before their "sell by" date. I've had some pretty bad luck with buying those on short-sale. You can smell that they're bad though.

Water filtration is great and all, but you might not want to to gathering water in the beginning stages of SHTF, especially if bugging in. You've got to keep in mine, one gallon of water is 8lbs and the further the water source, the more you'll have to haul at a time. Those distances and weights can add up fast to fatigue and unnecessary calorie expenditure.

Cover as many bases as possible. Short, medium and long term survival. Keep water on hand, have filters and know how to obtain water AND make it potable naturally.

If you're bugging out, then you're probably not taking your whole stash with you. It's best to learn how to survive without the preps in case you have to bail.

Plan for multiple scenarios.

Long lead time to move

Medium lead time

Short lead time

and NOW!!!!!!

check and check and check
I live in a desert , all water is pumped into LA Los Angeles, Stored water is for when their is none.

5 Million calories of freeze dried foods is one year for 7-8 people, it is a lot of food. at least 52 weekly shopping trips. if you bought it at one time it would be a few pallets stacked 4-5 foot tall, probably two thousand pounds!
