Oops, sorry! Twitter ‘inadvertently’ feeds users’ emails and phone numbers to advertisers
Twitter has issued a mea culpa after realizing that phone numbers and email addresses provided by users for “security purposes” had been accidentally handed to marketers, helping them target advertisements online.

The company admitted the error in a blog post on Tuesday, stating that the user information was unintentionally mixed up with its targeting advertisement program, known as “Tailored Audiences.”

“We recently discovered that when you provided an email address or phone number for safety or security purposes (for example, two-factor authentication) this data may have inadvertently been used for advertising purposes,” the company said, adding “This was an error and we apologize.”

When a company accidentally hands over customers private info to advertsers, the advertsers accidentally give the company a lot of money.

I thought it was their normal procedure. I’ve been noticing emails seeming to be related to my Twitter feed.

I went to check for POTUS’s tweets and there suddenly was a pop-up asking if “this is still your phone #”. The screen was stuck unless you answered so I turned the phone off to reboot and it was gone. Most likely that little pop-up was a plan of this “mistake”.

They have all been doing it for decades.

Give your phone number to an email provider or xbox live, then be surprised when creditors some how get that number?

I'm so sick and tired of "ad pollution!"

Everywhere you look it's ads, ads, and more ads. I don't even turn my phone volume on anymore because of all the damned robocallers; if my friends need to reach me, they message me.

Any day now I'm expecting that when I buy toilet paper I'll start the roll only to find ads printed on every sheet! grumpy2

People are questioning how Hillary got 340, 000 e-mails that got wiped by the FBI

They are claiming that's an insane number. It is not. Here's how I know:
During the brief periods of time I managed to circumvent censorship I would receive approximately 200 legit mails a day, not counting spam. That means that in less than 5 years, I'd have over 350, 000 if they never got censored incoming. This site has been around a lot longer than that.

In reality, that's not a lot of mails for a public figure. That could not have been everything Hillary got.
