The majority of you in this thread are straight up evil.

The Kurds assisted us with fighting ISIS. Now we're letting Turkey bomb them after convincing them to dismantle their defenses. This makes no sense. Like this is the only time we SHOULD be in the middle east doing something.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74088641

I agree. Most people here don't seem to know the history of our relationship with the Kurds. We really should do anything necessary to ensure their safety. Including war with Turkey, if that's what is required.

the way i see it.. the U.S. played its part in creating isis as a proxy army to destabilise Syria.. but isis went rogue.. U.S. then seeks the help of the Kurds to help contain isis.. which benefited the U.S. and the Kurds.. now that isis is pretty much defeated.. the U.S. have thrown the Kurds under the bus.. very very treacherous by the U.S.

Turkey is part of NATO the kurds are not its only normal that the US gives Turkey the go ahead.

ANd btw Trump said months ago that the US would leave SYria and he asked Europe to send troops and guess what Europe said no.

If there is anyone to blame blame the useless Europeans (i live in europe btw).

The military-industrial complex isn't bankrupting us — though some on the left still cling nostalgically to the belief that it is. It's fiction. We need to be clear about this. As I've written before, one of the great uncovered stories in Washington is the defense budget vs. the welfare state. Defense is getting drubbed, exposing us to long-term risks.

Whether this lesson takes hold in the campaign is unclear. The omens aren't good. The latest anti-Pentagon tirade comes in a recent issue of the New York Review of Books by Jessica T. Mathews, former president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. It's headlined “America's Indefensible Defense Budget.” Here are some of her conclusions.
