More thoughts, Concorde Warrior: I found the quote in your signature file very interesting, namely

Such a statement results, I imagine, from Lee Kuan Yew's personal experience.

How I see it: all religions have been corrupted in certain ways so that the original message no longer stands, and so that the original messenger is often slandered. In this sense, Islam is no different from any other. The original intent - to be online to the Divine 24/7, for example, has been reduced and ritualized into 5 praying periods a day ... just one example.

With our present situation, which is near breaking point, all that which is deceitful and corrupt will fall by the wayside, and this includes religious constructs and traditions which no longer serve.

I feel that in the chaos which will soon be around us, people will move on to a higher level of spirituality, and in the process of this, the debris of old religious structures, concepts and beliefs will simply fade away as everyone evolves their own personal "religion", motivated by love for and service to others.

This may seem like a very big "jump" from what we presently experience on this planet, yet there WILL be an end to this age of dispension, and then big changes will occur - or rather, we collectively will make them occur.

Thank you for the musings which this quote has led to.

When I listen to this song I hear the pain of a man who didn't fit in with society's norms. You know the type the 'freaks' 'weirdos' 'oddballs' and 'losers'. You see them in every town usually on the 'edges' where they've been pushed to by Mr & Mrs Normal. They don't 'fit in' but they are just as capable of producing beautiful things and music as the conformists are, sometimes even more beautiful because of the sheer brutal honesty they display. If you're one of them I salute you, this is for you -

What occurs to me is that pain and suffering are terrible to endure, but at the same time they are "obstacles" which force us to grow into something unique and authentic, capable of stunning others with their "sheer brutal honesty", as you put it. Their resulting soul development from surviving such trials can also put them in a position to help those who may have fallen into similar "traps". My gratitude for your contribution.
