BREAKING - Possible deal reached between Kurds and Assad! | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78078873 United States 10/13/2019 08:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Assad regime will not be welcomed back into most of these SDF-controlled areas. In the far NE Kurd areas, sure - which they've always been there - but not in the rest. Kurds are in big trouble any way you slice it... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78078873 Half of the SDF controlled area is Arabic including Qamishli and Hasaka. A great many arabs over there are not very happy under SDF control, claiming they have closed down over 2000 schools among other things. People in Hasaka are already on the streets celebrating. Nothing is a black or white as it seems. Yeah, it's very convoluted and always has been. While they all tend to submit to the most powerful, that is always a tenuous hold regardless of who the local 'power' is. The reason the Turks were able to have such a long hold over these areas with the Ottoman Empire is they knew how to govern them and include them - which basically amounted to letting them do whatever the hell they wanted to as long as they saw themselves in the 'bigger picture' - meaning, caliphate, empire, etc. Assad lacks this and the YPG-type Kurds and their Western allies have nowhere to go but to flee. |

Nothing is a black or white as it seems. "Seeing Turkey's terrorists invading my home, Northern Syria, is painful, but for the last 8 years, I had to watch as YPG took our homes, burned our villages, closed our schools, conscripted our children and made us outsiders in a land where we lived for millennias. As a person from Northern Syria, I avoided speaking out against YPG on Twitter because I had no energy to argue deluded leftist westerners who fell for the pictures of SDF's female soldiers and suddenly became experts on my homeland Northern Syria. The only legitimate force in Syria is the Syrian Arab Army, and that's the only force that my people would feel safe living under, you can take your FSA Islamist terrorists, and your fetishes for SDF's female fighters and leave us alone." SAA is hardly perceived as legitimate in many of these areas and if 'your people' felt safe as you claim, then there wouldn't have been an uprising against Assad to begin with. Assad's rehabilitation isn't going to happen, though that it clearly the goal of Iran, Russia, factions in US, and some within Turkey's govt. |

Ummmm.... Did you overlook that word " UNCONFIRMED " ??? Sorry to burst your bubble. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly." It's not my people..I'm quoting an Arab living in N Syria trying to point out that things are never bkack and white, not even the Kurdish issue. To that I will add that there are plenty of people within Syria who view Assad as legitimate. |
