According to old texts I read from around the time of the Council of Nicea, the "trinity" confusion was invented to put Jesus the Nazarene above Moses, so that when God spoke to or through His son Jesus the Nazarene, it was supposed to be superior to when he spoke through His son Moses in front of many thousands.

Even in this complicated story without many witnesses (how many Gospels describe this process? How many witnesses saw the Pharisees pay Judas money?) the Jws are at worst informants and paid a bribe.
