Luckily nobody was hurt in the accident, since the pipeline goes far from populated localities. The pipeline exploded at about midnight (Moscow time) with 50 meters (164.04 feet) of the line destroyed. The pipe was found 30 meters (98.43 feet) away from the blast site in a newly formed crater of 4 meters (13.12 feet) deep. The fire spread to the woods, but at 2 o’clock it was extinguished. At 4 am specialists could start repair works. The remedial maintenance of the pipeline will take approximately two days. The representatives of the Emergency Situations Ministry suppose the explosion could be caused by metal fatigue, although the terrorist act version is not considered impossible. source: www.grani.ru [link to www.russia-ic.com] |
