In the 60s they were scaring the kids to think that by 1980 the world would be over populated, food and supply networks would collapse and we would all die in a new ice age. It never happened. Then in the 80s they tried to scare them with global warming, holes in the ozone layers and collapse of food and supply networks by 2000. Didn't happen. Now the scam has been rebranded as "climate change" and a new generation of kids is growing up thinking they have no chance to live because the world will end in 10 years and the older generations are to blame. As recently as 12000 years ago the climate change was so severe that the planet warmed up and melted the ice caps from just the latest in a cycle of ice ages. That was long before humans had the numbers and technology to affect the planet. Studies of ice cores in polar regions show cyclical ice ages, periods of melting and warm, followed by another ice age - usually preceded by a short period of extreme warming.

We could go carbon negative worldwide tomorrow, and all it would take is solar activity and the eruption of a few big volcanoes to do more damage to the climate than man has done in centuries.

I like living in a clean world as much as the next person, I think it's time to look at alternative energy sources that are less polluting. But I also know that Canada, especially the west was built on mining, forestry and energy. I know that small towns outside the urban areas are desperate for jobs, living on the edge of poverty, doing the best they can. I don't support the pipeline into Vancouver for lots of reasons, but I would support it if it ran north where people need the economic stimulation - as long as China is not involved. THAT is the big elephant in the room that nobody wants to acknowledge much less overcome.
