I've heard nothing but bad & haunting things about 10. Geek squad said there was no choice.

Gave me 5 year warranty on the new hd, and 2 years virus protection. What kind of problems should I expect?

Yeah and rentacenter said we had a 1 year warranty after paying it off. They wanted to install a used hd. I wasn't very happy.

Bummer

Expect a lack of privacy, lack of control of your own computer, and forced updates that often screw things up and use hella bandwidth at the least opportune times.

They said you had no choice? On what did they base that massive load of dis-information? You can buy and install any version of windows that your computer will support. Yes, support for Windows 7 ends in January but as long as you have decent security software, you don't really need "support".
More deplorable all the time.

^^^ THIS ^^^

The problem with your situation is...

1. Geek Squad
2. Rent-a-Center

Do a search for 'replace hard drive' - this is a pretty easy IT task, even for a novice.
Best of luck to you. cheers

Geeksquad is mcdonalds workers without the grease. You want to not upgrade but change realities with linux. Learn it. It is like a new language to do anything complicated but for the easy senior stuff, it is windows without bill gates injecting updates in your colon every Tuesday. It also does not crash and hackers are much less interested in you.

Find a smart kid who is anti-SJW (powerball odds) and he will hook you up. Notice I said "he".

LOL
as IF these bastards ever even gave support ?

they rank right up there w/snOpes for evading answers,a direct answer to a question involving THEIR crappy OS.
and of course one can get a hold of previous versions-
by an act of Divine Providence ,i bought a barely used large unisex courier type satchel and tucked inside IS windows 7 Professional 64bytes--what i had prior to microshytes FORCED DOWNLOADS of 10, that were over-riding MY set preferences till finally one nite, a massive download that continued for hours totally destroyed a toshiba satellite laptop and these satellite computers were a new technology at the time of purchase, mine was not cheap/purchased brand new etc--totally FRIED damn them...i refuse windows 10 as it remains a cluttered POS and their TOS has microshyte basically owning YOUR computer and it's contents.
when my time permits i will get the fried on to take that windows 7 as it still powers on---LOL !
