Grind out the last two weeks. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78078738 Damn... I hope I get an offer next week, if i do 8m going to have to bite my tongue and give the 2 weeks. A guy i know recently punched out and he gave weeks. They made his life such a living hell he left mid through and used his accrued time off. |

Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan Regardless of what you think of your current job, if I'm the guy who's just made you the offer & realize that you walked out of the job you have without giving notice? Offer rescinded. I hear you. I've always been a 2 week guy, but a few around me are literally saying to walk... More often than not, the place that you're leaving will tell you that you can go ahead & go without the two week buffer... they become concerned about an exiting employee, especially an unhappy one, sabotaging something or stealing before they leave. But either way, before you tell them, let your future employer know you're doing it and your start date will be two weeks in the future... that way even if you are released the same day you tell your current employer, your new one will know that you're a stand up guy & can be trusted. Let's just say that it requires certain clearances and I'm the only one for my area... I dont actually feel bad, they did a bait and switch, I've voiced my concerns and they blew me off... oh well... |

I always make it a point to add a clause that no 2 weeks notice is necessary upon hiring. Started doing that in the 90's. If you were to get fired or laid off, there's no notice, so it's only fair. Not one company has refused, and I've had LOTS of jobs. I did it. I did it on purpose. And I'll do it again. |

Rarely do they give an employee 2 weeks notice before they let you go, so you’re also under no obligation. The only reason to do so would be if you wanted to use them as a job reference. |

You are also allowed to throw your work down and say "You know what? I'm outa here." I've gotten a lot of red for telling the truth and being right. Just sayin' |

They expect 2 weeks notice even though they won't reciprocate. If you fail to give 2 weeks notice, they'll ding you on future references unless you negotiate that point upon hiring. Then they'll open themselves up to liability if they try to ding you on it later. I did it. I did it on purpose. And I'll do it again. |

I came from a c level position prior to this. This company basically reneged on position and salary. I have an opportunity to get back into c level and over double current salary with new company. I need some time off... shit... |
