'Digressing' him to the source or 'zero point' as you put it would be about as stupid a thing as imaginable- ultimately, this is where the 'magic' happens- one needs some sort of access in order to illicit change in the observable cosmos. Add that it sounds like 'he' has some sort of uncanny knack at turning adversity to his favor (the larger the obstacle overcome the greater the reward/outcome) and you would in effect be handing him the keys to the kingdom.
