Bullshit. These articles pop up every election day, and their only purpose is to encourage people to stay home.

There were more staff than voters at my polling place this morning.

The guy I work with said his grandfather is voting Liberal, his girlfriend voted NDP and his friend voted Green.

He was voting PC.

Green and NDP will win more seats than ever before.
Conservative vote split, PC's win a minority government.
Libs punt Trudeau and elect a new leader. The Media will crap all over Scheer like they have done for Trump and in 2 years we do it all again with a non-confidence vote from the coalition of Green/NDP/Lib

I voted and didn't have to wait at all to vote. There was hardly any voters at the local polling station this afternoon.

People seem to forget that the Liberals only held 34 seats (a record low) before Turdhead showed up. Here's hoping for a similar collapse tonight.

Hi all you Canadians, sorry for my ignorance but what is the best website to watch for election results?

I had to show my voting card and my ID. They then took a ruler and put a line through my name on the list that they had (something they've done every single time I've voted).

It was dead where I went, and I do not live in the boonies. It was before 5 though, so maybe it'll get busy later.

Unless Trudeau wins a majority, which I don't think is possible, I don't see how they will keep him as leader. Even in a minority situation, the Liberals will always be one lost vote away from another election, and the only way to prevent that is for the NDP to completely bend the knee to the Liberals, which will end up pissing off their own base. I don't think the liberals will want to risk another election with Justin as leader. There are just too many skeletons in his closet. They managed to keep the worst of them locked up this time, but I don't think they will stay hidden if we end up back at the polls in a year or two.

That's why we voted (PPC) weeks ago..

I hate to break it to you, but if you voted in the advance polls, your vote is very vulnerable to tampering or being lost and replaced. At least in theory, if you vote on election day, the box you put your ballot in is always in sight of the scrutineers, but if you vote early, this isn't true. Even worse if you do the mail in ballot. There is no way to be sure that the ballot counted is the same as the one you cast. All it takes is an eraser to modify a vote, which is why you need to press really hard so it isn't easy to change the vote without invalidating the ballot.

Yeah, you can't just show up to a random poll with a driver's license and vote. You have to show your voter card, at your assigned polling place, and your name will be scratched off of a list.

I was the only person at my polling place this morning (around 10am) but a dozen or so more filed in as I was leaving.

Anyone can vote here as long as they have a voter card and a drivers license. You don't have to be a citizen to get a voter card in the mail and a drivers license doesn't prove you are a citizen. So yes, non citizens vote, I discovered this in 2004, reported it and nothing changed since then. I would even say I was bullied for calling it out. I would argue it's gotten worse since 2004.

Ok, you have a point there.

Even if you don't have a voter card, all you have to do is show up at any polling station with a piece of mail addressed to you that falls within that polling station's coverage and a driver's license and someone willing to vouch for you. The scam is that they show up in groups with translators who vouch for them and accompany them to the booth to make sure they vote the right way. They get offered perks for voting. All of the parties do it. They call it "get out the vote".

Well some posters are insinuating that you CAN do that, but I've never known anyone that has voted without their card/id.

There were a few coming in when I was leaving, but there was nobody else in there besides the volunteers when I got there. Three were quite a few volunteers.

The ballot it double sealed and they're not opened and counted until after polls close.
